| We let are pups go home at 7 weeks of age or longer depending on certain things like how they develop, how the vet check goes, how big the litter was, the bloodline of the puppy, whether the puppy is getting shipped or picked up etc. Each breeder and breed is different we do not have the pups in a kennel, garage, or basement. We raise them in our home we do not raise pom poms , shitzu's or a small breed dog. Larger breed dogs that are consider protection dogs or working dogs always have a alpha puppy that has more of a personality to bully other litter mates. I do not like that behavior in some puppies if and when a they are kept till 8 weeks in most cases longer and with siblings. Sometimes they will actually cause bites and scratches to other puppies and/or even kids that are just picking the puppy up. The runt puppy for example may think it is the alpha puppy and react before even knowing that it is a child picking him/her up and snap/bite the child. I will not sit by and let one of my pups be bullied Just like a mother/father would not sit by and let their child be bullied. Even the best breeder can not be on top of every bully but with the pups in our home, in a room connected to our bedroom that has a huge opening with no door on it we are able to catch allot of unwanted behavior's. I don't agree with pups or dogs out of sight (due to the old saying "out of sight out of mind") we are on a one floor dwelling and the pups and dogs are only 3 feet from my computer so not much gets passed me. We do and will always correct a puppy that bullies another when the behavior deserves a correction usually this will start between 5-6 weeks of age. Our Ideal of correction is separate that puppy for a short period of time, place that puppy one on one contact with the mother or hold his muzzle close just for about 3 seconds and firmly say NO we do not let him back with the litter mates until he has calmed down and not behaving that way. (This is usually a very short time) We have these pups in our home visible to us at all times we take pride in getting them ready for your home with your kids, babies, and other animals large and small . We let them out of their puppy pen 3 times daily to eat and go potty on the paper to hang out with mother etc., We then clean the inside of their puppy pen and refill it with pine shavings and shredded newspaper this keep our puppies clean and fresh smelling as well as our home fresh smelling. I spend 1 hour a day usually in the mornings just sitting with the puppies, clipping their toe nails if needed, cleaning them up if needed, touching them and petting them as needed, giving them allot of eye contact and human interaction as well as whispering to them and talking to them to see which puppy responds the quickest as well as which puppy seems to understand what I am saying by the different tones of my voice. Our puppies have allot of personal attention more so than allot of people give their own children. We bottle feed each puppy no matter what, this is a precaution to make sure no pups get left behind, we give them vitamins, we make sure to check tails and dewclaws daily for any sign of infection, we send pictures to people that have deposits down on our pups every weekend if not more often, we take pictures of the pups being bottle fed, eating their first meal, when the eye's open, with the tail on and off, first vet check, we keep in contact with the people that purchase our puppies often which leads to great communication. |
